She was bitten by her cat yesterday and says her finger is very painful but she won't see a doctor. Is medical treatment essential? Thanks in advance.Should someone in Malaysia seek medical advice after being bitten on the finger by her cat?
She should definitely seek a doctor to have a tetanus jab. You don't say where you're from so I'll warn you you'll have to pay for any treatment but it shouldn't be more than RM100, get them to write out the bill with the costs broken down.
RESIT = receipt, TOLONG TULIS RESIT = please write receipt.
The heat will mean germs spread faster, the lifestyle of the cat means it may have a lot more germs in its mouth and if they get into the bloodstream it could end very badly. Check to see her temp, if it's high she's fighting infection.Should someone in Malaysia seek medical advice after being bitten on the finger by her cat?
Cat bites DO tend to get infected. If you see any spreading redness or swelling around the wound, or red streaks streaming away from the bite site, get thee to a doctor's office ASAP.
I was hospitalized for 4 and a half days (on IV antibiotics, like Bonsylar's co-worker) because of a cat bite on my hand, and it was up in the air whether or not I was going to need surgery on my hand in order to retain use of my fingers.
Ask a vet or a vet tech about cat bites. Go ahead.
