1st time travellers to Buenos Aires seek advice from fellow travellers there as to hotels, tourist sites, etc.

Next month, we're going to Chile, Antartica, and Argentina. We'll only have four days in/around Buenos Aires and have never been.





1. Where to stay? We'd like a moderately priced hotel that is clean, comfortable, and close to the city centre. Neighborhood must be safe. We don't care about conference space or anything like that. Any personal recommendations from recent visits?





2. Best tourist sites for middle-aged, healthy couple, i.e., not interested in night clubs featuring, say, rap music. But a bohemian section of town might be fun. We'd be more interested in traditional culture.





3. Any particularly good city bus tours?





4. Best restaurants for really nice dining. More interested in quality of food than atmosphere, but ambience is nice, too. Caveat: we don't like seafood. Isn't the beef supposed to be fantastic? Pricey ok





4. Any unusual, out-of-the way places not always on the tourist map that anyone might have experienced and really recommend?

Buenos Aires is the most European of all Latin American cities. You麓ll fall in love with the city the minute you land. Don麓t miss ';asado'; (barbecue), ';bife de chorizo'; (something like T Bone steak, far better) and tango lessons offered at fine prices.

I recommend to stay at palermo neighborhood,or preferently las ca帽itas is more safe and quite than palermo hollywood.


and my suggestion you can rent an apartment than a hotel,why?


because you are more safe and you haven`t restrictions about visits and you have different prices,


about culture I recommend you: san telmo,palermo,recoleta,congreso,.


in san telmo you can visit: ortodox russian's church,the museum at lazama's park,older and tangero`s bars where our singers wrote their songs.the most famous are: el viejo almacen,el bar britanico,michel angelo.


congreso: you can visit tortoni`s cafe.congreso's square,


recoleta's area: recoleta`s cemetery is one of the most famous cemetery in the world,where evita's response,the sculptures are very interesting and this cemetery was the first in buenos aires.


then you have recoleta`s cultural center where you can see expositions,art,etc,crossing libertador avenue you have bellas artes museum.


retiro area: you have ''british tower''


palermo: you can see the zoo,botanical`s garden,malba museum.uhh you have much more places to visit.

Hi Lew,


I would recommend you to stay in Palermo Viejo or Palermo Soho districts while in Buenos Aires.


Plaza Serrano (Serrano Square) has a nice atmosphere, full of restaurants and coffee places apart from being close to everything.


Puerto Madero and Recoleta districts are not to be missed and of course La Boca, very charming suburb.
