I usually train myself to recognize the notes when hearing them and I am seeking advice.?

When hearing a note, I try, first, to recognize which note it is among the twelve notes of the chromatic scale and after I try to determine the octave.

Could you give my some advice?I usually train myself to recognize the notes when hearing them and I am seeking advice.?
I agree pretty much with the previous poster. It's called relative pitch. I am a string player so I can sing a A 440 at almost anytime of the day. I use that A to work through the scale and find the ';note in question.'; So I would suggest that you get A or some other note in your head (make sure it's concert pitch) and sing through your scale until you find the match.

Hope this helps.I usually train myself to recognize the notes when hearing them and I am seeking advice.?
Try to have been born with perfect pitch.

Haha. Anyway, some people like to listen to a particular note (usually A, for obvious reasons) all the time so they can get that note ingrained in their head. Also, I think it is common for string players to be able to tell their open strings. Once you can get one note, you can easily derive any other notes from it using relative pitch.

This is all if you don't have perfect pitch, of course. I do, so it's hard for me to comprehend not having it. But these are the things I've heard from other people.

  • How ling should i wait before seeking advice?

In augutst 2005 i had a depo provera injection. i never had a follow up injection but know it can affect your fertility for a year or so. i then took the pill for a couple of months, but have been contraception free now for about 9 months but havent fallen pregnant. is this due to the depo provera? and if so how long before things go back to normal. my cycle has been 28 days for the last 6 months and periods seem normal.

i have previously had treatment for endometriosis and have been told i have polycystic ovaries in the past but dont suffer systems of this.

How long do i leave it before going to see the doctor? Is there anything i can do myself to increase my chances of conceiving? How ling should i wait before seeking advice?
If your worried see your doctor, also stressing will hamper your chances of becoming pregnant.Go to your doctor%26amp;get some proffesional advice.Goodluck.How ling should i wait before seeking advice?
Make an appointment with your OBGYN now. TTC can get depressing very easily because it's mostly a waiting game. Your fertility decreases with age, so you are better off seeking professional help early on. Doctors have the knowledge and the tools to test and treat problems. Why not use those tools instead of trying to do it on your own.

My OB discovered I had a mild case of endometriosis during my 7th month ttc. He removed it immediately and I conceived the very next month. Maybe your endo has come back?
I wouldn't necessarily blame the Depo shot, yes there are studies that with prolonged use it can cause problems when trying to conceive however, I was on the shot for 6.5 years and the first time I missed my shot, I got pregnant. If you are having a normal period cycle then I would say that you are probably okay with coming off of your birth control. I would go and see a doctor if you have been trying for the 9months and they can run some tests or provide drugs for you to help you out. Good luck
Only your Father in heaven knows when you will conceive--if at all.
I think 6 months is long enough time you can see your doctor right away. The sooner you know the sooner you can fix the problem.
If you have no complications you are usually asked to try for a year before the gp will refer you. If you are older, or have conditions such as endo your gp might refer you earlier but because of the depo he might suggest you try for longer before trying assisted conception as it is very possible that the depo is still affecting you. Good luck.
DON'T TRY TO HARD DON'T THINK ABOUT IT ON A DAILY BASIS AND TRY HAVING SEX WITH A PILLOW UNDER YOUR BUTT AND STAYING LIKE THAT WELL AFTER YOUR DONE...... BY ALL MEANS FIRST GO TO THE DOCTOR TO MAKE SURE THERES NOTHING WRONG AND YOUR ABLE TO CONCEIVE GOOD LUCK TRY THIS WEBSITE HOPEFULLY YOU'LL FIND YOUR ANSWER

Should he seek doctors advice immediatly?

Should some one go to the emergency room, if he constantly has blood in his semen during ejaculation. He has been tested for HIV we just need some advice, is it prostate cancer or what? Easy Ten Points I need info quick thanksShould he seek doctors advice immediatly?
Could be prostate cancer, could be something simler like prostatitis (prostate infection) or an injury anywhere along the duct system.

You should definitely see a doctor (urologist) right away!Should he seek doctors advice immediatly?
Yes, he should go to the doctor as soon as possible. Hopefully it's nothing serious, but it's better to let a doctor tell you that for sure than to just hope it gets better.
HE SHOULD ABSOLUTELY GO TO THE DOCTOR (if not the ER). Blood is a sign that there is a SERIOUS problem. I don't know what it could be, but a doctor will. He needs to go get checked out. These kinds of problems only tend to get worse.

he should go to the doctor- does he have a family doctor? If he has a family doctor he does not need to go the the ER unless he is haemorraging.

Why does Socrates seek Euthyphro's advice on the nature of holiness? ?

What conclusions are reached in the dialogue about holiness, does Socrates seem to be a moral relativist? Why does Socrates seek Euthyphro's advice on the nature of holiness? ?
maybe this was beyond his way of thinking and he hoped to get some inspiration or insights to add to his way of understanding. Why does Socrates seek Euthyphro's advice on the nature of holiness? ?
No... Socrates is not a moral relativist... his questioning might lead you to think that, but remember, his questions are merely a reflection of what people believe. So it is the people who are the ones with relativistic tendencies.

The dialogue you are referring to is a strong rebuttal of divine command theory - the theory that it is only through the command of a divine creator like the ';god'; postulate of Christians, Jews, Muslims and other miscellany, that there can be any objective basis to morality.

What they showed is that either morality is based on ';reason'; independent of god (assuming god actually did once exist!)... or that morality is based on arbitrary desires of what god wants.

    Think of it this way:

    A. If we identify morality with God鈥檚 command we have to face the possibility that God might have commanded us to torture the innocent. If this is correct then torturing is acceptable because God says so!

    B. But genuine morality is not that arbitrary is it? if God has a ';reason'; for not torturing people then it is that ';reason'; that counts as the genuine morality.

    C. But if this is so then morality is not based on God鈥檚 command but on the independent fact that torture is wrong based on that ';reason';.

So you people have a dilemma to resolve. Gods command is either arbitrary or based on a fact which provides a ';reason'; for the command. In which case either morality is arbitrary or there is an independent basis for morality??

You might also want to ask yourselves these questions:

    1. Is something morally good because god desires it to be?

    2. Or does god desire it because it is morally good?

    1. Do you praise God because he is moral???

    2. Or is God moral because you praise him???

    1. We generally accept that torture is wrong but... Is it just because God says so (and you have faith in him)???

    2. Or... Is it because God understands what morality is about (and you have faith in his ability to understand the reasons for morality)???

HELP ME I have a foreskin problem and is seeking advice on it?

I'm 18 years old and I think I have a problem pulling back my foreskin I can get it shot 1/4 down then it hurts is that normal and it hurts when I put it back over the head. I've just started stretching it and have never been told to expose the head to clean it and when I do it is very sensitive. I am really worried and I need someone to give me advice about this. How long did it take for you to fully expose the head.HELP ME I have a foreskin problem and is seeking advice on it?
Ignore the pro-cutting answers. You just need to do some stretching.

Here's a link to my detailed instructions.

    http://www.healthboards.com/boards/showt…

Here's an extract from another version (now no longer on the net).

    STRETCHING TECHNIQUE ONE

If the foreskin is very tight the simplest method is to pull back on the skin (easiest with an erection) so that the opening feels tight and a bit uncomfortable without real pain. Hold that for a few minutes and repeat a few times. Do this a couple of times a day. You will find that soaking in a warm bath will make the skin softer and easier to stretch.

The major disadvantage with this method occurs when some stretching has been achieved or if the phimosis was mild to begin with. Once the opening is big enough to just fit over the rim of the glans when erect the foreskin is at risk of getting stuck behind it. If this happens a condition know as paraphimosis may develop.

This is why stretching technique two is probably better once the foreskin opening is big enough to make it almost possible to slide the foreskin back over the glans.

    PROBLEMS?

If the opening becomes sore, or develops splits, stop for a few days and let things heal up. Going at it too fast will only slow things down in the end. Sometimes splits and tightness are due to a fungal or yeast (thrush) infection. Treatment with an antifungal / anti-yeast cream designed for women’s genitals will usually fix this problem. I’ve also seen reports of success with a Hydrocortisone / anti-fungicide mix like “Fungocort”.

    PARAPHIMOSIS

Paraphimosis occurs when the foreskin gets stuck behind the glans of an erect penis, trapping the blood that causes the erection in the glans and causing swelling of the foreskin itself. If the foreskin becomes stuck squeeze the head of the penis firmly to force the blood out and try and ease the foreskin forward. Perhaps soaking in the bath or using an oil-based lotion will make this easier. If after many tries you still can’t do this see a doctor or go to a hospital emergency room fast. This is not a common problem but you should be warned of the danger.

    STRETCHING TECHNIQUE TWO

You can either grab each side of the foreskin opening and gently pull on each side of the opening, as shown in the photograph or, even better, insert the ends of two fingers, even the little fingers and pull them gently apart. Stretch the opening in this way until it feels uncomfortably stretched but not actually painful. Hold and repeat as for method one. Once again this is best done after soaking in a warm bath.

    SENSITIVITY

As you stretch and are able to expose more of the glans you may find that it is very sensitive or even painful to touch. You will find it less painful the more you expose and use it and gradually the over-sensitivity will lessen, until all you feel is pleasure. A gentle way to start touching the head is by using the shower spray. Also use water-based lubricant when touching the head directly and this should be more comfortable.

    TIGHT FRAENULUM

Sometimes the cause of difficulty in retracting the foreskin is not a tight foreskin opening but a short fraenulum (frenulum), also known as fraenulum breve. This can also be stretched though it is sometimes more difficult to do this. You can grab the underside of the foreskin opening and pull out away from your body until you feel the fraenulum stretching. Or if your foreskin opening is large enough you can pull back on the foreskin until you feel the fraenulum stretching. Hold and repeat as in the foreskin opening stretching methods.

If the fraenulum can’t be stretched then an alternative to circumcision is a frenuloplasty. It is a simple operation that does not remove any tissue but fixes the problem with minimal healing time.

Email me if you can’t understand any parts of this or if you need more help,

GeoffHELP ME I have a foreskin problem and is seeking advice on it?
Just keep stretching and pulling back gently, it will eventually pull all the way back, You really should have started this several years ago, it probably would have been easier.

And don't pay any attention to the fools that advise you to get circumcised, they just want you to be a miserable as they are.

The sensitivity is good, when all the circumcised guys can't feel a thing when they get older and get ED, you'll still be going strong.
Continue to stretch it if you can, possibly in the shower with warm water, as that will help it to become enlarged.

It may be painful at first, but it is necessary for cleaning the penis.

If it is especially severe, you may have a condition called Phimosis, see source below (Caution: Graphic Photos!)
keep stretching its sensitive because it use to being in your foreskin
I think the best way to get rid of this is to get circumcised!!
First things first. Relax - it doesn't need to be cleaned. No harm will come from not cleaning it. Phimosis can be cured fairly easily without drastic measures.

Certain masturbation techniques can cause phimosis (tight foreskin)

The average age for the foreskin to retract is 10 years of age. For some boys though it doesn't become retractable until the early teenage years. See here for what normal retraction looks like:

    http://geocities.com/painfulquestioning/…

Certain masturbation techniques that differ from the normal up and down motion mimicking sex can damage both the foreskin and the 3 delicate spongy arteries within the penis.

    Diagram: http://dic.academic.ru/dic.nsf/enwiki/26…

Examples of damaging masturbation habits include:

*Rubbing the penis head through clothes - often pushing down on the penis. And :

    *Thrusting against the bed.

This does 2 things. Firstly, rubbing the top of the foreskin and manipulating it in an unnatural manner creates scar tissue. This scar tissue is inelastic. Normal foreskin tissue is pliable making it easier to retract.

Secondly, the large pressure applied to the penis means that the spongy arteries that make up the penis may be damaged. Consequently, the penis doesn't fill up with blood properly and doesn't stretch the skin from the inside-out in the normal manner.

    Check for signs of damage:

The glans (the head underneath) can be sensitive and

Each side of the pee-slit is red.

So, do you do any of these techniques? I'd be interested to know.

Presuming you do, a few things you need to do to cure the unretractable foreskin.

Initially , give your penis time to repair the spongy arteries that may have been damaged. Do this by masturbating as little as possible initially. You can start doing it again after a while - but don't do it too frequently.

Then, change to the masturbation technique where you just move the foreskin up and down applying as little pressure as possible. Stop any 'rubbing' masturbation techniques.

I'm pretty sure if you stick with this advice - it will retract in no time.

If you do the above you won't need a circumcision. Circumcision is bad for several reasons.

The foreskin contains many specialized nerves on it's underside. When the foreskin is moved up and down it is very pleasurable. Circumcised men have lost this ability to masturbate easily as there is no gliding effect. Circumcised men often have to resort to artificial lubrication in masturbation and sex. See here for the function of the foreskin:

    http://geocities.com/painfulquestioning/…

Without the foreskin protecting the glans, circumcised men lose further sensitivity. The glans (head of the penis) dries out. It also brushes on underwear causing the skin to toughen. See here for the full damage done:

    http://www.noharmm.org/IDcirc.htm

There are good reasons to believe that sex is better for the woman as well, if the man has his foreskin intact:

    http://xrl.us/foreskinfunctions

Circumcision is also a risky procedure with a lot of complications:

Seeking advice on dating someone who has constant obsessions about you?

I'm dating someone who is always having thoughts about me that are so painful. I am not perfect in any way, but he has a way of finding all of my imperfections and dwelling on them to the point where he can't move forward with me. We've been dating for about 7 years now and I am ready to move forward but he is waiting to ';not feel as bad about the thoughts'; he has about me. What should I do?Seeking advice on dating someone who has constant obsessions about you?
hes an ***. dump him.Seeking advice on dating someone who has constant obsessions about you?
It's time to move on. That's bordering on or even is emotional abuse. A partner should make you feel good about yourself. not point out imperfections. You are saying that he can't move forward because of your imperfections and and him to not feel so bad about his thoughts of you? That's a very unhealthy relationship. You deserve much better than that. I'm a dating coach, if you have more questions or need advice, contact me. Good luck!
That sounds like an unhealthy relationship. I don't think a person can be happy with someone that focuses on their faults. His thoughts are obviously not going away (7 years). Find someone that is not naive and recognizes your faults, but focuses on your strengths. Find someone that can accept you for who you are, and love you for it.

We recently painted our dining room an evergreen and are seeking advice on drape color.?

The dining room has the original unpainted dark wood work with a built in seat and a built in buffet with leaded glass. I am thinking of a medium shade of grey for the drapes but my husband isn't convinced that it will match. Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.We recently painted our dining room an evergreen and are seeking advice on drape color.?
I would go with a soft ivory color or mushroom or taupe its earthy like the evergreen walls. I'm kind of siding with your husband. I would choose warm tones over cool tones.

Good luck.We recently painted our dining room an evergreen and are seeking advice on drape color.?
I agree with your husband but not because it won't match...it will look cold. You want a dining room to be warm and inviting. How about a soft goldish-yellow?
Khaki and evergreen are`a superb combo...very transitional, goes with a lot of different decorating styles; everything from traditional, to country, to contemporary, southwest, lodge, lots of different styles. The drapes don't ';have'; to be solid...stripes, plaids, florals, abstracts, any pattern that incorporates a little bit of the evergreen would be wonderful.

Sorry, but I'd stay away from the gray. : (

  • Seeking advice about being in command in the military?

I am an officer candidate in the Army. I am starting as a Specialist (E4) as I enlisted after finishing my college degree. People have told me about 'blue falcons;' i.e. insubordinate subordinates. What makes a good military commander? And how does one compensate for when subordinates fail to comply with orders? What are elements of the ';command attitude';?Seeking advice about being in command in the military?
You will be trained and mentored to teach you these skills.

As an officer - you will have NCOs who will deal with the 'insubordinate subordinates.'

The best thing you can do is: Listen to your NCOs. They really are on your side and want you to succeed.Seeking advice about being in command in the military?
';Command'; is both an art and a science. It is complicated and demanding. Although there are some naturals, it generally requires extensive study and acquired experience. If you have access to Army Field Manuals that would be a start. Read up on small unit warfare and books on military leaders.
i believe being a leader is natural, if you have to ask what makes you a good leader, meaning you dont know where to start, i wouldn't wanna be stuck in a platoon with you commanding, sorry...

I am seeking advice on changing my workout routine so that I can loose more weight and tone up my body?

I try to follow a workout routine were I start off with 80 to 90 minutes of cardiovascular exercise like spinning, cross-trainer and or stepper. This is followed by weights for an hour involving all the upper body muscle groups. I am trying to loose weight and tone up at the same time but not put on any muscle bulk. How can i change my routine as I think I might have plateaued and am experiencing no weight loss on the scales. Is doing the weights first followed by the CV workout a good approach? Any and all advice is welcome.I am seeking advice on changing my workout routine so that I can loose more weight and tone up my body?
You have to vary your routine. Your body gets accustomed to doing the same thing on a daily basis so changing it up and adding some different exercises will really help. Or you could try bumping up the intesity of your routine.I am seeking advice on changing my workout routine so that I can loose more weight and tone up my body?
For one you are over training, and your diet probably needs a little work too. I would recommend not doing more than one body part a day and train every other day, your body needs rest. make sure your getting in plenty of water and protein. your gonna need to supplement protein get a good one like myogynix evo or ISO flex by allmax nutrition. As far as your training routine arms should be done with shoulders, back alone, chest alone legs alone. abs every other day and cardio every day after your resistance training ( weights ). stay off the stair, it makes your legs bigger.... at least until u get where u want to be.... follow this and I guaranty u will see results in at least 2 weeks.... One more thing, stay off the scale, use the mirror. You should not get on the scale except about every 2 weeks........this will stop any discouragements from happening. remember, muscle weighs more than fat so look at everything else not what the scale reads.
You are going at it backasswards. Weight train for 45 to 60 minutes then follow it up with 20 to 30 minutes of cardio.
You're cardio work out seems fine. Cardio is good because its burning calories/fat.

    When doing your weight training:

    - lower the amount of weights, and increase the amount of reps (usually double)

    - Work both the lower and upper portions of the body

You might not notice a weight loss because you're replacing the fat with muscle, which happened to me. Weight isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's body fat is what you have to worry about.
If your wanting to get serious about weight lifting and trying to lose some weight at the same time. I would recommend the Ultimate Diet 2.0. I have been waiting to get on it but you have to be less than 15% body fat or it could cause horrible problems for you. Possibly work on your legs once a week with lifting. Your thighs could use the work out.

Pregagnt with first child and seeking advice on how to raise a child not to hate you?

hi i hated my mom growing up?

Are there any tips on how to have a good relationship with your child?Pregagnt with first child and seeking advice on how to raise a child not to hate you?
Be open-minded and light hearted. Teach your child empathy and to care about the world around them.

On a basic level read to your child daily, make sure they have a good education (learn about life and differences), love them, talk to them, set fair rules, and be a parent not just a friend.

If you are worried about it then take a parenting class. But I'll bet you will do fine. Learn from the mistakes between you and your parents. Learn and grow, that's all you can do.Pregagnt with first child and seeking advice on how to raise a child not to hate you?
I'm preganant with my first as well. And I have been wondering how to be a good mom also. On one side, you want to protect your little one from everything, impart on them what you know, and help them with their problems. On the other, You can't always be their friend, and sometimes you just can't help.

I've set up a few rules for myself already. Just somee things that my parents did, that I don't want to repeat. For one, I away want to be honest with my kids, even if the truth hurts. And to be honest with myself about them. (no delutions because I love them). Also, the reasons, because I said so, or because you live under my roof, aren't good reasons. If I can't come up with a good reason as to why they shouldn't be doing something, then what right do I have to stop them?

Of course there are a few things I want to try and do as well. Like listen, not only to what they are saying, but what they mean. To be there for them, and to support them. Also, not to decide on their personality. I hope I never say, well my childs going to be a doctor/mortition/school teacher/McDonalds worker/ect, or get the idea in my head that they Will be good at something. I want to let them be their own person, and support them in whoever they become.

I know a lot of this may be foohardy, (especially thise experianced parents). But, I think, that in the end it'll be worth it.
i am a mother of 5 boys and i love them to death, my advice to you is be strict when it's needed, don't spoil them, communicate, be open and honest to your child never lie to them cause that just teaches them to lie. just remember everything you hated the most about your parents and try to raise your child different. me and my boys are very close we talk about everything and i love it, my oldest is 13 and believe me they come and talk to me before dad only due to I'm with them all the time. stay positive and raise your child the way you want to but stand by your word and rules. good luck I'm sure you'll do fine
Love them, unconditionally. Praise them when they are being good, instead of only giving them attention when they are bad (as a lot of parents do). Most of all, be consistent with discipline. If it was ';no'; today, it needs to be ';no'; tomorrow. That way your child will know what is expected of him (or her) and not be confused. Children are eager to please their parents, but they need limits set, as they are too young to control their emotions. No child ever listens as well, as when he is being praised. Give them lots of love and attention. Listen to them, when they have a question, and try to answer it as honestly as you can. Read to them, a lot, that is a good time to be close . Best of luck for a happy, healthy baby.
my mom is my best friend not only because she was a parent to me but also a friend, there needs to be a balance make sure you are open if your child has a question answer it because if you don't someone else will, just make sure you are always there. let the child live and experience things and try not to shelter it so much it is human it is going to make mistakes
Read books and take some parenting classes.

People tend to raise their kids the same (or similar) as they were raised. When they had an unhealthy childhood, it's important to break that cycle. But the problem is, you may not have had good parenting modelled for you.

I recommend ';Parenting with Love and Logic';. Also, read on child development, so you know what your child should be doing at what age. As a parent, it's important to have reasonable expectations of your children.

    Good luck!
This is from a 13 year old's point of view. You need to lead by example. Do not scream at your kids, unless you want them screaming at you. Talk to them calmly, (sternly also if necessary) and they will speak to you like you're a human being; not a dog. Be accepting of them NO MATTER WHAT! You get to live your life how you wish, so they should get the same opportunity without mom's expectations influencing them. Be sure to teach the child MANNERS when they are young. Etiquette goes a LONG ways. My parents never taught me etiquette, and guess who I learnt it from? My american history teacher. Teach them to sit up straight when they are sitting, to close doors quietly, to cover their mouth when they yawn, to say ';excuse me'; when someone is ';in their way';. Another huge thing to teach them is that they must ';choose their battles';. If nothing is to be gained from an argument, don't partake in it. If someone says, ';This school is so stupid.'; and they believe otherwise, they shouldn't get in a huge, full blown argument over it. Also, teach them to love themselves. Whatever life throws at them, they can take it. Teach them that ';What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger.';, because it is so true. It is really beneficial if you try educating them (e.g. reading, writing, foreign language) at a young age, because this will help their maturity, I've come to find. My parents are very conservative, and I'm openly gay. Guess what that creates? Tension. Major tension. You MUST be accepting of your child if you expect them to embrace you with open arms. Throw away the old-school customs/ideas, your child will be growing up in a new era. Be confident of yourself, and your child will mimic your actions. Good luck!
Hi. There is really no great strategy but be their parent and not their friend. Show them you love them by listening to them and not always judging. Displine them but make sure they understand why they are being displined. make sure you tell them and show them you love them by simply praising them when they do well, giving hugs, placing a kiss to their cheek or forhead, being their when they need you and letting them learn some things on their own.

    Hope this helps.
i hated my mom and still do. if you want your child to love you my advice is always be encouraging and supportive. if you have a girl don't say she's fat when she's a size five and don't tell her she's not as pretty as her sister. don't purposely try to hold him/her back from their dreams and goals just out of spite and jealousy. that's all i got but if my mom hadn't done those things maybe i'd give a **** if she lived or died.
well, you need to teach her manners and good things when they are very young because then they understand more on how to act

hug them every single day sounds weird but studies show that if you hug your kid every day it will decrease 30% on their chance of using drugs and throwing tantrums

if they get mad and yell you need to understand, and not get mad, if you listen they will get calm

dont spoil them, a nice treat every once in awhile is great but not too much

and finally let them grow, trust them to become a great independant person, but you need rules so dont automatically trust them they have to earn it
Hi... i am 51 years old, and i don't particularly like my father, either.

I have two grown sons, and we have good, close relationships. that doesn't mean that i didn't make my share of mistakes.

I did encourage my kids when they wanted to try something new.... i was supportive, even if i thought they'd fall flat on their faces.

I spent time with the kids.. reading, and doing things which were sometimes boring to me, but they enjoyed it... i also got them to help me decorate cookies, and we did little things together... every christmas we made simple gifts or cards together so they could present them to grandparents or close relatives. so we made traditions. I tried to be involved with their school activities, too.

I didn't scream and yell at them all the time, although just like anyone else, i did raise my voice once in a while (sometimes we just can't help it)... I did not expect them to get all A's, when they were struggling just to get a B. One of my kids got A's easily, the other, not so good. I tried to help as much as i could.

When they did something wrong, i usually talked with them about it -- asked them why they did whatever it was, and how they felt. Recently, one of them told me that it was good for them, but sometimes they'd rather have had a spanking (LOL).

I didn't indulge in name-calling, friend bashing, or put-downs... i didn't hit them at random (however, each one of them got one spanking during their lifetimes, and they deserved them!).

I tried to be a good listener.

I also tried to be a good example, but wasn't always that great... i did, however, let them know when i made a mistake. I didn't want them to look at me and think ';this woman thinks she's perfect and superhuman';... because i'm not.

I also enforced rules and tried to be consistant. I said NO when i had to, and did expect my kids to behave.

I respected my kids, when they were young... things as simple as saying ';please'; and ';thank you'; and giving praise is showing them respect. I got a lot of respect in return, as well.

There are a lot of good parenting books out there... if you are unsure, maybe something like that would help?

I'm sure you will be a good parent... especially since that's what you want to do..

take care and i hope you get a lot of good suggestions here.
Be open and communicate. I have a 15 yr old who I do not talk to. i hate talking to him as much as he hates talking to me. He hates me. We go to parenting classes (court appointed) and the most common thing is communication and open love. tell them you love them, hug them everyday. and never give up and stop showing your love. this is easy for the 1st 10 years, until they become their own person.
-Like the others said be open %26amp; communicate.

    -No physical disipline.

    -read up on developmental psychology.

-Set firm rules %26amp; appropriate consequenses to benefit the child not yourself.

-Don't nit pick at her to much..especially her appearance
remember the things that you didn't like about your mother and try not doing all those things to your own. be open and talk to your child every chance you get and be a parent as well as a friend.
They love you until around puberty, then they hate you for awhile. Then they love you again.

You have to be a parent, not a friend. They can find friends, they only have one mom.
    Attachment Parenting
Victoria's answer and be supportive and open to conversation is a good start.
Be their parent, not their friend.
well they told me to just talk to him

Will Silda Spitzer seek out Hilary Clinton for advice?

Will Silda Spitzer seek out Hilary Clinton for advice? Hilary kept her whore of a husband after his wing wang crossed the teeth of numerous women. What do you think? Will Silda Spitzer seek out Hilary Clinton for advice?
no, but she ought to seek a nice divorce lawyer! eeew....hookersWill Silda Spitzer seek out Hilary Clinton for advice?
I think Hillary would be the last I'd ask for ';advice';. You know how little self respect Hillary has. She stays with Bill for the ';power trip'; and money.
I think Silda will seek the advise of a financial consultant to figure out how he could spend that kind of cash and her not even know it.

If Yahoo Answers is for people who seek advice?

why do so many people come on here telling the questioners not to ask on here? I mean, yes, common sense, if it's a medical issue, it is best to seek professional advice, but doesn't it defeat the purpose when you come here to ask a question only to receive a ';ask your doctor'; type answer? If Yahoo Answers is for people who seek advice?
If it was me, I would give an answer if I knew what the answer was. If I don't then I don't answer it. If you answer by telling the person seeking advise to seek and answer elsewhere, then what is the point of that?If Yahoo Answers is for people who seek advice?
You are reading the rule incorrectly. the rule states a question must seek knowledge or advice BENEFICIAL to all. So asking something that pertains only to ones self is considered chat.

Interracial marriage: seeking advice from those who have done it?

    Please, mature answers only. Thanks!

    I'm an african-american male, she's a caucasian female.

What should we be thinking about? What post marital issues may arise? Any personal experience %26amp; advice you may have is greatly appreciated.Interracial marriage: seeking advice from those who have done it?
I have a few different angles. I'm married to a hispanic woman and it's not easy for us. Most hispanic people don't care that were together but a lot of black females hate to see a black man with a female of another race.

My brother married a german girl and it's hard on both of them. Whenever she comes to a family get-together the rest of our family targets her like she's a beast. And her family does the same to my brother.

But I'll tell you what my bro told me when my wife and I were going through this. No matter what your race, gender or size is people will always find something to hate about. Just brush em off and you be you. And never let what other people get between you love for your partner. Interracial marriage: seeking advice from those who have done it?
There really isn't anything to think about.

If you love one another that is all that matters, color does not.

Yes, you may experience the occasional ignorant jerk, man or woman, that has something to say about interracial relationships but you have to let that person's misery stay with them.

I haven't had many issues in the 8 years we have been together.

Just a couple different people who felt the need to express why they don't believe in interracial relationships and to be honest and could care less for what they had to say because I am happy.

Oh and the one other time we were on vacation and went to a large flea market and it seemed that every black woman there gave me the look of death. I think I may have been the only white person there.LOL.

I can't think of any post marital issues unless either one of your famililes have a problem with your relationship. That may cause some issues in your marriage if the families don't appreciate your relationship with one another.

SOme people say when children come along you have to think about how they will be teased or taunted because they are mixed. I don't see this as a problem like it once was.

There are so many interracial marriages with children these days.

Don't let this affect your love for one another. Have peace in the fact you are happy together.

Well my fiance is black, and I'm white, and we haven't had any real issues over race. I don't think one would unless they had deep roots with their culture, and it differed from the other's beliefs (like one was a true African and the other was like.. German or something).

But I am having a small issue with this family reunion I have to go to/want to go to with his family... It's going to be almost all black family members, then me... I don't exactly know how they expect me to behave lol. But I'm glad to at least be meeting them.

But that's the only bump I've hit so far.
I met my husband in or around 1983 and every time we went out together people would stare at us. This was 20 years ago and interacial ';marriage'; was pretty new. But we loved each other and didn't care. As long as your family is cool with it then you shouldn't care. We were together for 15 years before he died in an accident. I haven't dated a man of color since. Only because I haven't run into one that I like. I havn't run into any man that I like. But when I do, it doesn't matter what race he is just as long that I am happy.
I guess all I really have to say is if we weren't racist, the color of skin wouldn't matter.

Maybe you're looking at things a little racist yourself by seeing the difference in you and your fiance's skin colors? Who cares if one of you is yellow and the other is purple?

Good luck with your long, happy life together. :)
I agree with a lot of the answers. It should not matter what others think. As long as you love each other and care for one another it shouldn't matter what others think. If anything you will have to deal with the people who think that people should date/marry inside their race, but just ignore them. Me and my husband are doing it and we work in the same building.
i am into that now..but it don't effect me i do not care..my bf is how ever mixed..and it effects him.. he thinks of him self as a mixed breed..but he is 32 yrs old.. who you should be asking is the children on today..and how it effect them..but keep in mind that things change ever 10 or more years,,both my daughters are white.. and both have had african american bf..there father did not approve.but this is the 2000.not the 1900's..this is the age.. where age and race don't matter.. look around.. heck ..sex of a person don't matter any more..and yeah ..my oldest..does not care what race you are or sex..as long as your a good person
I was in a long term relationship with a black man. I lived in a big City. You might live in a small narrow minded town. I wouldn't know that. I had some mean things said to me but whatever. Other than dealing with ignorance there is really no difference. You love each other %26amp; cozy up at the end of the day.
Hi , i was married to a hispanic man for 15 yrs.

    i am irish

our kids look like me , no one would know they are half mexican. i did not care much about it , but we did get weird looks and people would ask if our kids were his, i think its rude to say things like that out loud.

i say stay Strong in your love, do alot of holing hands , hugging and kissing.....god bless
There really isn't anything to worry about.

I don't think you will have any problems, except for maybe the occasional dirty looks you may get from the ignorant people of today's world.

    But that doesn't matter =)

    Good luck to you both!
Don't except negative feed back from people and Don't you and bf feel that you need to give anyone any reason why you marry.

You will always find someone with something negative to say.

I wish you the best of Luck~

  • What happens to Christians who seek out the advice of psychics and white witches?

I know that Christians are told not to seek advice from psychics or white witches, but do you think that God (the christian God and Jesus) deem it worse to speak to a white witch over a psychic or is it the same. I ask because for osme reason it seems more offensive and wrong to seek advice from a witch. It could just be me, but any opinions from Christians are appreciated. Please don't just tell me that seeing these types of people is against christianity (i know that already), i just want to know if one is worse or opens up more spiritual doors than the other, thanks !!What happens to Christians who seek out the advice of psychics and white witches?
What happens is that they have their mind maybe opened to possibilities of God that the ';church'; in general doesn't want its followers to have.

Because it leads to free thought.

How would you as a Christian know for sure you hadn't already had advice from a psychic or a witch? The hat isn't a requirement any more :)

BTW- you know that Christianity's built on mysticism right? What happens to Christians who seek out the advice of psychics and white witches?
You should only seek advise from fat, white Republicans. Hippies and free thinkers can only confuse you from what you should really be doing.
You can become oppressed/possessed with demons. This is not a great thing, I have been there before and had to have them cast out after becoming a Christian. You will be miserable if you play around at all in witchcraft.
Both are equally bad. As a Christian we seek God's guidance in our life's. Why would any one go to other sources of information since God knows yesterday today and tomorrow. Through prayer and reading God's word the Bible He can and will help you make correct decisions in your life.
    ever heard the phrase ';a fool and his money are soon parted?';
Spirituality is born from a personal occurrence with a divine, psychic or mystical experience of one form or another which inevitably connects a person to All that Is/God/Goddess/Allah/Great Spirit /whatever you want to call it.

Religion is second hand opinion of someone else鈥檚 divine experience. I think you will find that religions, and especially fanatical religions, tend to separate and divide people, while spirituality brings people together.

Thank God that Spirituality is on the increase!

in essence the problem is that the person so called believer in God is turning to someone else, divination, witches, seers, psychics etc....God gets grumpy about that kind of stuff. he wants believers to turn to him. Good luck with that.
No, they are equal in evil. They get their power form Satan, not from God. They will lead you away from God and you should shun either one. Don't mess with the occult. It can be very dangerous for your soul.
There are stories in the Bible (King Saul) they had dire results. I think it safe to say that God holds both witch and psychics in the same category and it is not good. A Christian that would seek the advice of any other religion or divination is sinning and in danger of destruction.
nothing happens as far as i can figure
Uh, what do they think King Solomon was?????????

I'm a white witch, and it's fine to ask me stuff!
they do it all the time except some of the frauds are called TV Evangelists, bishops, priests, cardinal, popes, prophets - etc...
It depends on whether they heed the advice or not.
The God of the bible and Jesus are just 2 of the names Deity has been called . Actually god is jut a title, but no one knows his name because Hebrew was written without vowels. YHWH is all that is known about that name.

Deity does not care if you see psychics or witches. Just be careful who you go to many psychics are fakes and are out to get your money and rip you off. Especially be ware if they tell you a curse has been put on you and they can break it.

Witches are not evil as Christianity claims.

    ';I know that Christians are told not to seek advice from psychics or white witches...';

Actually, no. You cannot ';know'; that, because it's not true. Or at the very least, it's not biblical - maybe your pastors do tell you this, but they cannot claim the bible as their authority for that..

Jews were told not to do that.

Where did JESUS mention witches, white or black or green or purple, OR psychics? Give me citations, and NOT from Paul. I said JESUS.

But most of the answers you'll get are going to be quotes form the OT.

Y'all keep saying that the Mosaic laws don't apply....except, I guess, when it comes to homosexuals or neo-pagans or seers, etc.

In other words, when it gives you the opportunity to condemn people whose practices you have no clue about, or people you just don't like.
They get scammed by a source other than their church.
a witch and a white witch are the same they both get their power through the demonic...

and to answer your question what happens... the christian gets deceived and ends up listening to the advice of demons
Neither is wrong in the Gnostic belief. (NOT to be confused with AGnostic)
They are both on the same level.

';There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices witchcraft, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who casts a spell, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead.'; Deuteronomy 18: 10-12.
Ask King Saul (Read 1 Samuel chapters 28-31 for the whole story)

Also read Exodus 22:18, Deut. 18:10-12, and Isaiah 8:19, 20

Chrisitans cant call themselves children of God if they reject the Word of God.
A real Christian would never do that, as it brings curse from God. NO such thing as a white witch either, just the devil playing a word game as usual. witches are witches and GOd says they are evil and to leave them alone.

One is not worse than the other as both opens doors to demons and serious curse that can hang on for years until Jesus breaks that curse. Stay away from anyone who does things that are contrary to Gods word. Be caution in where you spend time and who you spend it with.

Go only to God for answers . He has them all.

Should Bush seek advice from the Democrats?

Bush seemed to be saying sorry for the mess he has made so far and then almost apologizing in advance for what is about to happen, do you think he should have sort for and accepted the advice of the Democrats?Should Bush seek advice from the Democrats?
Seeing as how Liberal Democrats won WW2, it may not be a bad idea.

But it won't happen. Bush doesn't want advice, he wants affirmation.Should Bush seek advice from the Democrats?
Different time, different democrats. That is not a very strong analogy. Democrats of today don't have the spine for war, and it is truly disappointing as sometimes war is necessary. If you lead, you must make difficult, sometimes unpopular decisions, they are incapable.

Bush doesn't listen to advice, so what would be the point of him seeking it??
I think he most certainly should always listen to their advice, but I don't believe if it constrasts with what he believes is right and neccessary that he should follow their advice.
He probabaly should. I think he has underestimated the resolve of those people.
Bush should seek advice from all stakeholders no matter what their politics. He claims that is what he did this time.
why should he, we don't want things to get worse.
HE WAS DEFEATED LONG AGO AND STILL TRYING TO WIN A WAR,WITHOUT A GOD ON HIS SIDE.MAKING MATTERS WORSE AND BRINGING MORE DEATH INTO THE WORLD.
He is setting up his exit strategy which is to blame the Maliki government for failing. Bush will claim the US did the best it could, including sending in more troops despite political oppostion.

If he wanted to win in Iraq at this point, he should send in 500,000 troops and restart the draft. That at least would be a choice for America to make. Do we sacrifice for this goal or not?

21,000 extra troops wont be enough to win, so in the end we will lose.
He'll go through the motions of seeming to do so but then he will do whatever he had decided on in the first place. After all, he proclaimed himself as being the great decider.
I don't think that Bush accepts advice from anyone other than Cheney %26amp; Karl Rove %26amp; maybe a few other cabinet members. Oh yes, and military officers who agree with him.
He is going to get it whether he seeks it or not.

    Its only just beginning.

He is going to face resistance from Congress concerning manning and funding the REPUBLICAN misadventure in IRAQ.

    Bush is finished.

    He is done.

    He is useless.

The sooner he goes back to his ranch the better.
He doesn't have to seek it. He's getting plenty.
No, he should take a cyanide pill. Or better yet, put him on the front lines of his war.
What??? He's sending 2000 more over there! I guess he wants to kill as many of our boys as he can before he steps down. I don't think he is sorry, he still thinks he was %26amp; is right about everything he has done. He's a madman out of control!!!!!
Well, if he wants any money he might. He no longer has a BLANK check, no strings attached, like the Republicans gave him! Ticd, go tell that to FDR, Truman and Woodrow Wilson, all democrats!

All you have is Nixon, (Vietnam) which was started by Eisenhower while Nixon was Vice-President! Reagan who cut and ran from Lebanon after Hezbollah terrorist killed 242 Marines, And Bush, who lost this one 3 years ago when he lost control of the country! Your FACTS leave a lot to be desired!
F, H, D, **** it! NOOOOOOOO! Oi, my God, you didn't listen to his speech VERY well! America, President Bush, will NOT cut-and RUN, like a gdmf STUPID liberal! America is NOT a *****! We STAND, WE DELIVER our promises, and KEEP our HONOR! Our BELOVED soldier's WILL NOT LAY DOWN to terrorists! They have PRIDE in their country, and KNOW the difference between RIGHT, and WRONG! Too bad liberals don't understand that WRONG, just isn't RIGHT.

Bless, with all of God's heart, and even my little tiny fighting heart, America's brave, diligent and, honorable troops. We, America are lost without you. I love you all!
NO....liberals dont have a clue as to how to fight and win

ANY war....they can only ';dialouge'; and cut and run...
No, from a psychiatric to see if he can help Bush to come out from this idea that he's God and the schizophrenia that getting the petroleum from Iraq is the best thing to do.

It seems that you have no other choice for broadband but satellite. If you do have a choice, satellite would be my last choice.

At our Christian school (where I am the System Admin) we used Hughes Net for years until wireless became available. We were paying $49.99 / month for 700 kps download speeds. It seems that satellite communication is much more susceptible to the number of users and speed - bandwidth.

Our bodies do get used to a workout routine. Even if we try to switch it up each day, our body can get used to the pattern that we work out in.

What I would recommend is to try just one form of cardio for a month and one type of weight lifting. Then, switch every 1 to 2 months.

    Here's an Example:

    Jan/Feb: Spinning and Free Weights

Mar/Apr: Cross Training and Pulley System Weight Lifting

May/Jun: Stair Stepper and Weight Machines

    Jul/Aug: Spinning and Free Weights

Sep/Oct: Cross Training and Pulley System Weight Lifting

Nov/Dec: Stair Stepper and Weight Machines

That way, every two months you switch it up. You keep your muscles guessing. By doing the different weight lifting systems (free weights, pulley weights, and machines) you'll be using SLIGHTLY different muscles and get a slightly different workout.

Don't switch up every day or week. Wait at least 4 weeks before you switch routines. (of course it's ok to throw in a day or two of something else here and there, but it's really recommended that you stick to one thing for one to two months).

Also, rest for a day inbetween your weight lifting. Only lift 3 or 4 days a week. Your muscles need that day to repair the microscopic tears in the muscle.

And, (as I believe everyone already knows) if you want to build muscle mass, lift the maximum weight possibe while still being safe and do as many reps as you can (if you can do more than 20, it's not your maximum weight). And, if you just want to have lean, toned muscles, lift less weight, and do more reps.

Another way to maximize your workout is to do the motions SLOW and CONTROLLED. Focus on the resistance on the way down, as well as on the way up. Each move should usually take about 2 seconds each direction (slowly say to yourself, ';up, two, down, two, up, two, down, two...';).

  • Seeking advice on dating someone who has constant obsessions about you?

I'm dating someone who is always having thoughts about me that are so painful. I am not perfect in any way, but he has a way of finding all of my imperfections and dwelling on them to the point where he can't move forward with me. We've been dating for about 7 years now and I am ready to move forward but he is waiting to ';not feel as bad about the thoughts'; he has about me. What should I do?Seeking advice on dating someone who has constant obsessions about you?
That sounds like an unhealthy relationship. I don't think a person can be happy with someone that focuses on their faults. His thoughts are obviously not going away (7 years). Find someone that is not naive and recognizes your faults, but focuses on your strengths. Find someone that can accept you for who you are, and love you for it.Seeking advice on dating someone who has constant obsessions about you?
It's time to move on. That's bordering on or even is emotional abuse. A partner should make you feel good about yourself. not point out imperfections. You are saying that he can't move forward because of your imperfections and and him to not feel so bad about his thoughts of you? That's a very unhealthy relationship. You deserve much better than that. I'm a dating coach, if you have more questions or need advice, contact me. Good luck!

Seeking advice about being in command in the military?

I think Hillary would be the last I'd ask for ';advice';. You know how little self respect Hillary has. She stays with Bill for the ';power trip'; and money.

why do so many people come on here telling the questioners not to ask on here?

Through prayer and reading God's word the Bible He can and will help you make correct decisions in your life.
    ever heard the phrase ';a fool and his money are soon parted?';

Witches are not evil as Christianity claims.

they probably deep down are wondering if their religion is right for them.
    Spontaneous human combustion.
    ';I know that Christians are told not to seek advice from psychics or white witches...';

At our Christian school (where I am the System Admin) we used Hughes Net for years until wireless became available. We were paying $49.99 / month for 700 kps download speeds. It seems that satellite communication is much more susceptible to the number of users and speed - bandwidth.
