If i am not happy with a social worker is there an ombudsman i can seek advice from?

.If you are not happy with a worker the first thing you should do is alert the workers manager to the concern. The manager should set in motion a course of action to resolve the issue. If the issue remains unresolved you should ask for a complaint form.Fill it in and submit it to the head of the department. There is then a timescale when the complaint should be resolved by to your satisfaction.Social services have to abide by the policies covering the complaints procedure so ask for the procedure to be put in writing to you.

If the complaint remains unresolved alert the director of the social services department... the headquarters of the local authority(council) can provide you with the contact details.

At this stage..if it goes this far you really should alert the inspectors who are an independent agency who oversee the practises of social services..social services would be loathe for them to get involved as they are the people social services answer to..again you can get the contact number from your local authority offices.

As you can see the procedures are designed to resolve issue's as soon as possible even if you only want to raise a concern about a worker.

I work alongside of social services and complaints should be taken seriously and treated in a professional manner following all policies and procedures correctly. If i am not happy with a social worker is there an ombudsman i can seek advice from?
yes you will need to talk to social worker boss. Tell them why and that you just don't think you understand each other well and need to change to a different worker. keep at them if they don't and in the end just let them know it wont work for them as your social worker and you must have another one. work your way up everyone has a boss above them if they don't own the place. I went head to head with ford and it took many phone calls and being told i was talking to the head and i kept at him and went as far to tell them that i would come to were they are and call evey reporter in the book from state to state and i said it nice and kept calling next thing after a month of calls i Talk to a new man in charge and old one was fire for not fixing the problem and i had my car fix. Big guys don't hear atty. only press calls to the world lol

all i'm saying is keeping at them and being nice gets things done just takes time.If i am not happy with a social worker is there an ombudsman i can seek advice from?
Check with this people directly, I found in some instances that if you try to speak to their superior, they tend to swipe it under the carpet.

Just give them a call and see what advice they give you.

Alternatively,

Normally Social workers are employed by local council, try to see if they have got any dedicated complaint procedure.

Best of luck !
There are procedures to be followed, First go to the next manager up. If still not happy, contact their Customer Services at the head Office and ask how to make a complaint. If this fails THEN go to the Central council. As part of THEIR procedure they will ask you what steps within the SOCIAL SERVICES PROCEDURES you have taken.

Good luck :))
